Tree Pruning

Crown cleaning: This is the selective removal of dead, diseased, broken, or weakly-attached branches from a tree crown.

In addition, one of the most critical components of crown cleaning is identifying branches that are rubbing against each other, and then choosing the right one to keep and cutting the other.

Crown raising: This is the removal of lower tree branches to provide clearance for buildings, signs, vehicles, pedestrians, and lines of sight.

“Vista pruning” is similar, which enhances a specific view.

“Crown reduction” is used to reduce the size of a tree.

Restoration after tree topping: In some cases, “crown restoration” is required for trees that have previously been “topped” and are sprouting vigorously, or trees that have sustained storm damage. Restoration consists of the selective removal of some water sprouts, stubs, and dead branches to improve the tree’s structure and form.

Hazardous Tree Removal

Removal of trees that pose a threat to homes and other structures, or service and power lines.

Tree Inspection

Sometimes it is fairly easy to see why a tree is struggling. But most of the time it is almost impossible to be certain because it take so long for symptoms of stress to present themselves. Furthermore, the symptoms themselves can be caused by a myriad of different causes.

For example, a common problem is too much water. What is the soil type? Does it drain sufficiently? Or does it simply get watered too much? Once a tree is in serious decline, it is simply a matter of time before it dies.

Preventive care is the key. Continual monitoring and care can greatly improve the health and longevity of trees.

Professional Tree Pruning

Structural pruning: If young trees are “trained” or pruned to promote good structure, they will live longer and look better than trees that haven’t been pruned – especially if the training begins early.

Darren will analyze your tree to identify and eliminate bad branch connections. He’ll also look for competing branches, which are rubbing each other.

Thinning: Selectively removing branches increases light penetration and air movement through the crown, and improves structure.

Increased light stimulates and maintains interior foliage, and increased air flow can improve health.

Shaping: We’ll make your trees look good.

Fruit trees: Darren is experienced in pruning various fruit trees, having studied with local masters who educate the orchard industry.

Tree Transplanting

Transplanting is a specialty of Darren’s because of his nursery experience digging trees. He can transplant deciduous trees up to two inches in diameter, and conifers up to four inches in diameter, depending on the tree and soil type and location.

Having said this, our obvious preference is to help you choose the right trees and put them in the right locations to start with, so we don’t have to worry about transplanting.
